The Department of Sociology was established in the year 1970. During the past 50 years the department has grown in quantity and quality. Qualified and experienced faculties are serving in the department. Shri. B.M Morabad was the head of the department at the time of establishment of the department. He has served for 32 years and he has worked as N.C.C Officer for 12 years. After his retirement Shri. S.A Patil has served the department. Dr.Sheela. M. Tubachi has joined the department as Assistant PROFESSOR on 25th July 2008. She is also serving as IQAC Coordinator. She is serving as a Ranger Leader from 2013 till today.   Shri. Irshad Bodlekhan is serving the department as Full Time (Temporary) Assistant Professor.
